A clear process from enquiry to shipment
International commodity trades follow a well-established sequence. Here is how a transaction with Resources Group typically progresses.
Enquiry
You tell us the commodity, specification, quantity, delivery port and schedule. The more complete the enquiry, the faster we can respond with a relevant offer.
Verification, KYC and compliance
Both buyer and seller are typically asked for company registration details and know-your-customer information. Counterparties are screened against applicable sanctions and trade restrictions before any introduction is made.
Documentation
The seller typically issues a written offer setting out product, specification, quantity, origin, price basis and Incoterms. Supporting documents, such as a product specification sheet, are exchanged under the agreed procedure.
Independent inspection
Quality and quantity are typically verified by an independent inspection company, such as SGS, Intertek or an equivalent surveyor agreed by both parties, usually at the loading port.
Contract
The parties sign a sales and purchase agreement covering specification, quantity and tolerance, price, delivery terms, inspection, payment instrument and dispute resolution. Payment is typically by documentary letter of credit or another agreed bank instrument.
Shipment
The cargo is loaded and the shipping documents are issued, typically including the bill of lading, certificate of origin and certificates of quality and quantity. Payment is released against the agreed documents.
Every transaction is different. The exact procedure, documents and payment terms are set out in each offer and contract.
